No. While private loans can be refinanced for a lower interest rate, there are no federal forgiveness programs or income-driven repayment plans for private loans.
The only loan types eligible for these programs are federal loans. In particular, only Direct federal loans are eligible for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program. Both federal Direct loans and Federal Family Education Loans (FFEL) are eligible for the Teacher Loan Forgiveness program. If you have FFELs and want to apply for PSLF, you must consolidate them to Direct Consolidation Loans.
You may want to explore refinancing your private loan(s) to see if you might qualify for a lower interest rate than you have currently. Savi is not a loan provider or bank, and this type of action is not something we service at this time.
